Culture under threat

MUCh has been written and spoken about in recent months about the attack on Protestant Unionist Loyalist (Pul) culture in Northern Ireland. The word culture comes from the Latin 'cultura animi' (cultivation of the soul). It has made me ponder as to what constitutes culture and what aspects have been under threat. Culture normally alludes to language, literature, the arts, music, sports, cuisine, fashion and religion. I would like someone to describe to me using this criteria firstly, what is Pul culture? Secondly, what aspects are currently being undermined?

Before someone shouts that the Protestant religion is under threat my best friends attend church every Sunday and do not feel under threat or have ever been prevented from attending their place of worship. They very much feel Protestant and unionist but detest the label of loyalist being automatically applied as well.
