Prayers for Columba McVeigh

As the search for Columba McVeigh, one of the murder victims known as The Disappeared, was resumed yesterday, there can only be hope that a successful outcome will be reached at long last.

Mr McVeigh (19), from Donaghmore in Co Tyrone, is known to have been killed and left in a secret grave by the IRA in 1975, but no trace of his remains has ever been found.

While all the available evidence indicated that he is buried in Bragan Bog in Co Monaghan, a series of previous excavations there have ended in frustration.

Specials teams are now concentrating their efforts on an area of roughly an acre, and, although the terrain is difficult, the prayers of the entire community will be with the McVeigh family in the coming weeks.
