Caution needed after rat poison outrage

Only the most twisted of individuals could have mixed rat poison with bread left in an area of south Belfast popular with dog-walkers.

Around 200 of the toxic pellets, which could easily have proved fatal if eaten by a much loved pet, were discovered on a stretch of green at Annadale Embankment earlier this week.

It is important that members of the public are aware of the danger which exists and take appropriate precautions.

With a full police investigation under way, it is also essential that those responsible for such a despicable act are brought before the courts without delay.
