Stop paramilitary-style shootings

TWO young men were left with what the police described as 'potentially life changing injuries' when they were shot in the legs in paramilitary-style attacks in Belfast and Derry on Friday night.

This type of activity has seen hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people maimed since they became a sad feature of life during The Troubles. But it must be said: there was no justification for such attacks then and there is no justification for them now.

Every time someone uses a gun there is the potential for death. This too has been the result of paramilitary-style attacks in the past. The way to make sure there are no such injuries or fatalities in the future is for whoever is carrying out these attacks to stop them now.
