Alarm over blatant Lurgan intimidation

There can only be deep alarm over the blatant act of intimidation in Lurgan during which a group of railway employees attempting to upgrade the main Belfast to Dublin track were threatened by a thug who was believed to be carrying a firearm.

It was equally reprehensible that a BBC cameraman who later arrived to cover the weekend incident was attacked by a man wielding a baton in the same area.

There appear to have been sporadic efforts by dissident republicans over a period of several months to exercise a particularly sinister form of control over parts of Lurgan.

The vast majority of ordinary citizens in the town are appalled by their activities and are entitled to expect that the perpetrators will be brought before the courts.
