Christmas reflection: A better story of light triumphing over dark
BAD news stories dominate the headlines. Confusion reigns over Brexit and the ongoing political impasse at Stormont continues to have such a detrimental effect throughout our community.
Having said that, over these past few months, as I have visited churches, schools, businesses and council offices, I've actually been struck by the number of good news stories.
There are so many unsung heroes dedicated to serving and helping others, who contribute more than they can ever imagine to the common good.
Christmas is about Gospel - the ultimate good news story.
Light suddenly illuminated a dark Bethlehem sky as angels bring tidings of great joy to terrified shepherds: "Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10).
As this Christ reigns in us, we begin to live a different and better story.
Hope triumphs over despair, joy over sorrow, peace over division and love over hate.
As Christ comes to us full of grace and truth, even the darkest sky is turned to brightest light.
May the Good News of Christmas be yours now and always.
