Alarm over Cave Hill sabotage

There can only be enormous concern about the latest vicious attempts to sabotage biking trails on Belfast's Cave Hill country park by stretching thick wire between trees at chest height.

It is not clear what motivated those who placed the trap, which was fortunately discovered before serious injury was caused to any of the cyclists, runners and walkers who use the popular facility every day.

However, as trees have previously been cut down and placed in the same area, with a hole also recently dug on the route, there can be no doubt that the general public remains at risk.

It is essential that anyone with information about these crimes should contact the police, and everyone passing through the park also needs to exercise considerable care.
