Huge praise due to Anto Finnegan

The `Run for Anto’ event which attracted over 1,000 people to west Belfast, including Dublin’s All Ireland winning manager Jim Gavin with the Sam Maguire Cup, was a heart-warming occasion.

It was organised to raise funds for the Motor Neurone charity deterMND which was set up by the former Antrim captain Anto Finnegan after he was diagnosed with the life-limiting condition in 2012.

The initiative has already brought in over £300,000 and the gathering at Falls Park, which was backed by the GAA’s Antrim County Board, provided it with another major boost.

Mr Finnegan is an inspirational figure who has worked tirelessly for an important cause and everyone who supported his efforts on Sunday deserves considerable praise.
