Prayers of the world answered in Thailand
The prayers of the world were answered yesterday when the rescue of 12 boys and their football coach who were trapped in a flooded Thai cave for more than two weeks was finally completed.
All the risks involved in reaching the group on a narrow ledge deep underground were illustrated when a specialist diver involving in preparing for the operation lost his life after running out of oxygen last Friday.
However, one by one, over an agonising 72-hour period, the youngsters, using breathing equipment with special face masks, were pulled to safety through the labyrinth of submerged tunnels, with their coach the last to reach the surface.
It was a miraculous outcome in every way and the highly skilled international team who made it all possible deserve the highest possible praise.
