Answers needed over Graham Irwin's death

There will be huge sympathy for the ordeal suffered by the family of Graham Irwin since he was found dead in unusual circumstances at his home in the Shankill Road area of Belfast in May.

Relatives of Mr Irwin (52), as we reported yesterday, are particularly alarmed that over £500 was withdrawn from his post office account in three transactions - one in the hours before his body was discovered and two more in the following days.

They say police initially dismissed their concerns before announcing that they were treating the death as suspicious and then finally informing them that the case was no longer under investigation, even though it was claimed no evidence was taken from the scene and Mr Irwin's phone had not removed for examination.

The family has now made a formal complain to the Police Ombudsman and it must be hoped that the disturbing issues surrounding the loss of their loved one can be swiftly resolved.
