Urgent campaign for new stem cell donors

There will be strong hopes that the appeal for stem cell donors launched by west Belfast man Sean Smyth has a positive outcome.

Mr Smyth is campaigning on behalf of his daughter, Eimear (24), who has been diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a serious form of blood cancer which has now returned for a second time.

Eimear and other sufferers, as we report today, urgently need help from additional donors, particularly young men aged 16 to 30 who are significantly underrepresented on the stem cell register.

The Facebook page `Eimears Search' provides full details about a medical donation process which is straightforward in nature but offers massive benefits if matches can be found.
