Huge relief as missing boys found in Thailand cave
Over the past nine days, people from around the world have watched with growing apprehension as the search continued for twelve boys and their football coach, who disappeared in a cave in northern Thailand on June 23.
Despite the influx of international assistance, including rescue teams from China, the United States and Australia, hopes that the young people had survived being trapped in flooded caves were fading with each passing day.
So the breaking news yesterday that the boys and their 25-year-old coach had been found alive was both incredible and unexpected.
They still have to be rescued in what promises to be a difficult operation, but the fact that they are safe is an amazing outcome and a testament to the skilled teams who refused to give up.
