The list of targets for deranged gunmen across the USA brandishing legally held firearms has now been extended from schools, factories and even churches to a daily newspaper office.
Every attack on innocent civilians is equally appalling and demonstrates the entirely unacceptable nature of the legislation in many states which permits easy access to deadly weapons.
What should be saluted is the courage of the journalists on the Capital Gazette in Maryland who witnessed the murder of five colleagues at their desks the previous afternoon and still published a full edition yesterday morning.
