Sympathy for tourists after north Belfast theft

Two German tourists who travelled across Europe to Ireland in a custom-built motorcycle and side car were entitled to think that it could be safely parked overnight in a north Belfast street.

Sadly, they woke up yesterday to discover that their vehicle, worth an estimated £15,000, had been stolen from Clifton Park Avenue and was later found burnt out in the nearby New Lodge area.

It was a particularly nasty crime, which no doubt left the couple with a very negative view of the city where they had only just arrived.

However, they need to know that the vast majority of people across Belfast and beyond were appalled by their ordeal and strongly hope that the culprits are swiftly brought to justice.
