Shameful acts of intimidation in Derry

There are clear indications that the latest round of security alerts in Derry represent another entirely shameful attempt to threaten the families of serving police officers.

Suspect devices which turned out to be elaborate hoaxes have been repeatedly left close to the homes in the city of individuals related to PSNI members over many years, with three further incidents in recent days.

The victims have displayed enormous courage by refusing to move away, and have thankfully received strong support from community representatives.

It is appalling that such cowardly acts of intimidation are still taking place and it is high time that the families concerned were left to live their lives in peace.
