Notable achievement for Ahmad and Reannad Soda
Siblings Ahmad and Reannad Soda had never heard of the GAA when they arrived in Belfast as young refugees from war-torn Syria less than three years ago.
However, they immediately proved to be gifted players with the Sarsfields club in the west of the city and as we reported yesterday have helped their respective under 14 teams to reach the All Ireland Féile na nGael finals.
It is a rare achievement for a brother and sister to represent both their club and their county at the same stage of the prestigious event, and Gaelic games have clearly helped with the assimilation of the family into the wider community.
There will be strong hopes that Ahmad (13) and Reannad (12) go on to achieve further notable successes in their sporting careers.
