Courage of Caoimhin Hynes
Belfast boxer Caoimhin Hynes is displaying exceptional courage by returning to the ring next week just five months after he was left for dead in an unprovoked late night city centre stabbing.
Caoimhin (25) had his face slashed from ear to ear when he became the innocent victim of a melee during a queue for service at a takeaway restaurant last May and came close suffering fatal injuries.
The extent of knife crime in urban areas is a matter of great concern and it will be noted, as we reported yesterday, that, despite the presence of numerous witnesses and the examination of mobile phone footage, Caoimhin's attacker has yet to be traced.
However, the young sportsman's determination to rebuild his life has been hugely impressive and there will be strong hopes that his appearance in the multi-national Barcelona tournament will be successful in every respect.
