Anto Finnegan's heroic campaign
The former Antrim GAA captain Anto Finnegan has responded with enormous courage and commitment since he was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease almost exactly five years ago.
He established the deterMND foundation to increase awareness of the condition and raise funds for both research and patient case, making a huge impact when the historic `Game for Anto', between Dublin and an Ulster select, was staged at the Ravenhill headquarters of Ulster rugby in 2014.
As we report today, the latest stage of Mr Finnegan's campaign has involved completing a gruelling 90-mile stretch of the Camino pilgrimage route in Spain in his wheelchair.
He is an inspirational figure by any standards and his deterMND initiative deserves to go from success to success.
