Help needed for devastated Belfast Crystal firm

There will be enormous sympathy for the owners of the successful family-run Belfast Crystal factory which was almost totally gutted in what police are treating as a suspicious fire.

The small company, which specialises in hand-cut glassware, has operated in the west of the city for almost 40 years, but now faces a completely uncertain future.

Machinery and stock were all destroyed in the weekend blaze at the Kennedy Way building, and the search is now on for alternative premises.

It must be hoped that the authorities can quickly help to provide a base which will help the firm to resume its production line in the near future.
