Welcome for restoration of Rosetta Cottages

Across Ireland, and particularly in urban areas, many notable buildings have disappeared through redevelopment or simply fallen into long-term disrepair.

The project which is designed to restore Rosetta Cottages in Belfast, which date back 200 years and are among the oldest surviving dwellings in the city, is therefore commendable.

Clanmill Housing Group intends to reinstate many of the original features and, as we have reported, preserve the facade of the row of homes close to the busy junction of the Ormeau and Ravenhill Roads.

It must be hoped that other landmark sites in a range of districts will benefit from a similarly sympathetic approach.
