Despicable attacks on GAA and Orange halls

The twisted individuals who repeatedly attack the facilities of the GAA and the Orange Order represent a threat to the entire community.

Damage was caused to the Altnaveigh Orange Hall outside Newry at the weekend when tyres were placed at the rear of the building and set alight.

Two GAA clubs in Co Tyrone have also been targeted in recent days, with a defibrillator destroyed at St Macartan’s in Trillick and a considerable amount property stolen during a break-in at St Enda’s in Omagh.

Regardless of whether the perpetrators were motivated by sectarianism or any other form of criminality, they deserve to be brought before the courts without delay.
