A fitting GAA tribute

When relatives and friends are trying to cope with the sudden and traumatic loss of a loved one, small gestures can go a long way.

There was widespread grief when three young Queen’s University students, Conall Havern and Gavin Sloan, both aged 20, and 19-year-old Peter Hughes, died in a car crash on the main Belfast to Dublin road outside Banbridge last August.

It has been announced that the senior team at Peter’s south Armagh GAA club, Dromintee, will wear jerseys with his initials and player number, PH6, inscribed beneath the crest this season.

The tribute to Peter’s sporting contribution is a fitting one which is in keeping with all the best traditions of the GAA.
