Dublin Airport expansion boosts Irish economy

Yesterday’s confirmation that a second runway is to be built at Dublin Airport, involving an investment of over €300m, is a significant development for the tourist industry.

The project, which is expected to be completed by 2020,It will also provide major opportunities for the construction sector, hopefully on both sides of the border.

Intense competition with both of Belfast’s airports will be likely to follow, but this can only be to the benefit of occasional and regular travellers.

The world is becoming a smaller place every year and the chance to take advantage of budget fares to a range of destinations will be widely welcomed across Ireland.
