Act sensibly and follow advice as wet weather continues

IT is depressing to hear that yet another weather warning has been issued for this weekend, with the prospect of even more sustained rainfall perhaps bringing more misery to some communities.

While it is not predicted that the rain will be as heavy as that which occurred in the days after Christmas, it must be remembered that most rivers and lakes are already at extremely high levels.

As of yesterday upwards of 40 roads were still impassable after the awful weather of last week.

It is entirely possible that this newly-predicted rainfall could therefore cause more flooding and block more roads.

Such conditions put a strain on the emergency services and statutory agencies, so it is important that everyone acts sensibly, follows advice and does not put themselves in a position where they unnecessarily require assistance.
