Belfast prepares to welcome U2

As a time when good news is in very short supply, the confirmation that the world's biggest rock group, U2, is returning home to play a series of six concerts in Dublin and Belfast later this year will be widely welcomed.

It is 17 years since U2 last played in Belfast and the band's two shows at the SSE Arena on November 18 and 19 will be major events as well as boosting the city's economy by attracting a combined sell-out audience of over 20,000 people.

All four U2 members may be well into their 50s, but the reviews from their latest tour have been strongly positive and there will be enormous anticipation surrounding all their forthcoming concerts.
