The death of the talented young professional boxer Eamonn Magee junor, who was fatally stabbed during an attack outside a house in west Belfast at the weekend, was a tragedy of huge proportions.
Mr Magee (22) was one of the brightest prospects in his sport, and, as our moving interviews yesterday and today have demonstrated, his killing has devastated his girlfriend and his family.
Although police investigations into all the circumstances are still continuing, it is believed that the Ulster University student suffered knife wounds to his heart and lung after being targeted in the early hours of the morning.
There can only be enormous concern over the appalling consequences of another knife crime, and there will be massive sympathy for his relatives and friends in the difficult days ahead.
