Kayden Fleck's death is an enormous tragedy

A full investigation is under way into the death of five-year-old Kayden Fleck in Co Antrim at the weekend but it is clear that a tragedy of enormous proportions has taken place.

Little Kayden was reportedly on a family visit to the Ecos Centre, a nature park on the outskirts of Ballymena, when he accidently fell into the River Braid on Saturday afternoon.

He was swept away in the swollen floodwaters and, after a massive search by the emergency services, was eventually located more than four miles downstream.

The Harryville Primary School pupil was taken by helicopter to hospital in Belfast but could not be revived and died later in the evening.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire community will be with his relatives and friends in the difficult days ahead.
