Anger over attack on Ballymagarrick gospel hall

There will be widespread anger over the suspected arson attack which caused substantial damage to Ballymagarrick Gospel Hall in a rural part of Co Down.

Police are entitled to expect full cooperation from anyone who noticed suspicious activity on the Comber Road, between Carryduff and Lisburn, late on Sunday evening.

Reports have suggested that intruders piled benches and chairs against the pulpit before starting a fire which was intended to engulf the entire building.

Anyone who sets out to destroy a place of worship is beneath contempt and it must be hoped that the hall can be completely restored without delay.
