The calculations have been made using information from Numbeo's Cost of Living Index which is worked out from daily living costs such as transport, utilities, groceries or eating out.

The Republic sits just outside the top 10 as the 11th most expensive country, a jump of five places from 16th last year.

The UK is further down the list, coming in at 24th.

Countries that have a higher cost of living are coloured red while less expensive countries are green. Image: Movehub
