Kanye West has held a meeting with President-elect Donald Trump at the billionaire's New York home in Trump Tower.

There has been speculation Mr West offered to perform at the inauguration on 20 January.

Before leaving the building, the rapper was photographed with the president-elect in the lobby. Mr Trump said: "He's a good man. We've been friends for a long time" and said they were talking about "life."

Mr West refused to disclose details of the meeting, telling assembled journalists: "I just want to take a picture right now."

Mr Trump then hugged the rapper, saying: "You take care if yourself. I'll see you soon."

Last month Mr West was taken to hospital suffering from "temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration", according to celebrity website TMZ.

The musician was reportedly admitted to hospital after police were called to reports of a disturbance on Monday, a day after cancelling his tour.

West's mother-in-law Kris Jenner has said the rapper is exhausted due to his gruelling tour.

Ten days after Mr Trump’s victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, Mr West (39) said: “I told you I didn’t vote right, but I didn’t tell you If I would’ve voted I would’ve voted on Trump.”

He added that he “loved” Mr Trump’s style of debating.

“I hate the fact that because I’m a celebrity everybody told me not to say I loved the debates. I loved his approach.”

Mr West has also repeatedly claimed he will run for president in 2020.
