Driver was 'sipping JD and Coke while travelling at 90mph'

A driver was spotted doing 90mph while sipping a "JD and coke" along an A-road, police said.

The man was stopped by officers who saw him travelling at high speed with what turned out to be the whiskey and cola drink on the A52 in Borrowash, between Derby and Nottingham, on Thursday night. "JD" is a common abbreviation of Jack Daniel's whiskey.

The roads policing unit at Derbyshire Police said the driver was also found in possession of cannabis and cocaine after being pulled over.

In a tweet, the DerbyshireRPU account said: "Driver stopped 90 mph on A52 sipping JD & Coke. Also in possession of Cannabis & Cocaine, failed breath test & drug wipe. Utter stupidity."

He was later bailed pending analysis of his blood sample, police added.
