CHERYL Fernandez-Versini  got a divorce from French restaurateur Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini after complaining that his unreasonable behaviour had caused her stress and weight loss, court papers show.

A family court judge drew the couple's marriage to a close today.

Judge Heather MacGregor granted a decree nisi – after concluding that the marriage had "broken down irretrievably" – at a 14-second hearing in the Central Family Court in London.

Neither the singer nor her second husband were at the hearing.

Divorce papers filed at the court showed that the singer had petitioned for divorce.

Fernandez-Versini – in forms she signed on September 14 – said the cause of the breakdown was her husband's "unreasonable behaviour".

The singer said his behaviour had affected her health and added: "It cause stress and weight loss."

A spokesman for the singer had announced that a decree nisi had been granted – more than an hour before the court hearing began.

Judge MacGregor made the formal pronouncement, in Court 20 of the court complex, at about 10.15am.

The spokesman had issued a statement to journalists at 9am, saying: "Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini have today obtained decree nisi in their divorce proceedings. No further comment will be made and they ask for their privacy to be respected."

Judge MacGregor held that Mr Fernandez-Versini had "behaved in such a way" that Fernandez-Versini "cannot reasonably be expected to live with [him]".

She said the marriage would be resolved within six weeks when a decree absolute was made – providing no objections were raised.

Fernandez-Versini (33), who found fame with the band Girls Aloud and who is a former judge on the X Factor television show, married Mr Fernandez-Versini (35) two years ago.

Court papers said their marriage had been solemnised on July 7 2014 at Macaroni Beach, Mustique.

Her previous marriage to footballer Ashley Cole – an ex-Arsenal, Chelsea and England left back who is now at Los Angeles Galaxy – ended in divorce after four years in 2010.
