A MEMORIAL plaque at David Bowie’s former home to commemorate the singer’s death has been stolen after just three weeks.

It was announced last month that Berlin would pay tribute to David Bowie with an engraved plaque in the city.

The memorial, which featured lyrics from his track Heroes, was unveiled at the end of August, but now it has been reported to have been taken.

German newspaper B.Z. said that the vandalism and theft was reported on Saturday by a local business owner in the Schöneberg street. Police are now investigating.

The house in Berlin was shared by both Bowie and his friend Iggy Pop. Bowie first moved there in 1976 while battling an intense cocaine addiction, but found himself back on track during his stay.

The Royal Porcelain Factory, which made the plaque, reportedly has security prints made in case of damage or theft.
