SNOW Patrol will headline the second day of the Tennent's Vital music festival in Belfast this summer.

The five-piece, including Bangorborn lead singer Gary Lightbody, will play their only European tour date at Boucher Road Playing Fields on August 15.

Snow Patrol, whose international hits include Chasing Cars and Run, last headlined the festival back in 2006, having first played it in 2002.

The headline act on the first day will be US rockers Kings of Leon.

Organisers say further acts will be announced "in the coming months".

Nicola McCleery of Tennent's said Snow Patrol were huge favourites.

"They are one of the biggest bands in the world and we can't wait to welcome them back to home soil for what promises to be a very special second day of Tennent's Vital," she said.

Tickets, which cost £44.50, go on general sale from Ticketmaster at 10am on Friday but a limited number will be available to fans of Tennent's Vital on Facebook from 10am today.
