DONEGAL'S nine-year-old "honorary Garda sergeant", Jack Beattie, has hinted he may be one of the star guests on this year’s Late, Late Toy Show.

Jack, who is from Raphoe and has suffered from osteogenesis (brittle bones) all his life, has built a huge following on social media since his nomination by Letterkenny gardaí as part of a “Little Blue Heroes” campaign.

Over the last two years he has been helping officers promote a variety of appeals, including appearing in full Garda uniform earlier this year to promote Covid-19 safety messages.

In his latest online post, he dropped a hint that he could be part of one of the biggest Irish television events of the year when RTE’s Late, Late Toy Show is broadcast on Friday November 27.

Children from throughout Ireland join host Ryan Tubridy in the run-up to Christmas as they try out the year’s most popular toys.

Jack posted a message on his Facebook site urging people to tune in next week.

“You never know who you might see – it possibly might be me but I’m not going to give too much spoilers,” the youngster said with his characteristic wink and smile.
