Two more people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in the Republic of Ireland, it has been confirmed.

The death toll now stands at 1,717.

Four new cases have been confirmed by testing, bringing the total number of people infected to 25,383.

In Northern Ireland no further deaths were recorded but testing diagnosed one new case.

The death toll in the north has reached 545 while to date 4,871 people have tested positive for Covid-19.

Further restrictions were eased in the north today. The Executive confirmed that from tomorrow six people from different households can meet indoors and must social distance, practise hand hygiene, ventilate the space, limit the length of the visit and consider wearing a face covering. Read more
