Man (27) in court in connection with fatal road collision in Co Donegal

A 27-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a fatal road collision in Co Donegal.

The body James Haughey (30), from Kilmacrennan, was found by a passer-by at Windyhall on the outskirts of Letterkenny early on Monday.

Paul Dooher of Culdoire, Gortlee Letterkenny, appeared at Falcarragh district court, sitting in Letterkenny, yesterday.

He was charged with failing to stop at the scene of the accident, driving without a driving licence and driving without insurance.

Dooher was released on bail on condition that he surrender his passport, sign twice weekly at Letterkenny garda station, and does not interfere with witnesses.

The case was adjourned until September 21 to allow direction from the Republic’s Director of Public Prosecutions.

Requiem Mass for Mr Haughey take place at noon today at St Columba’s church, Kilmacrennan.
