Coronavirus: Six more deaths in Republic of Ireland brings death toll to 1,645

The coronavirus death toll in the Republic of Ireland has risen to 1,645 after a further six deaths were reported by the National Public Health Emergency Team.

There were another 39 confirmed cases of the virus, bringing the total since the outbreak began to 24,876.

Meanwhile, a further three people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Northern Irealnd, according to the Department of Health.

The death toll in Northern Ireland for people who tested positive has now risen to 521.

One of the three people whose deaths were announced today died in the 24 hours up to 10am. The other two died on an earlier date.

A further 17 people have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 4,696.
