GARDAÍ in Co Mayo launched a murder investigation yesterday after the body of a woman was found.
The woman was aged in her early forties was her body was discovered in a house in Kilbree near Westport, RTÉ reported.
A man was arrested in connection with the incident.
He was last night being detained at Castlebar Garda Station.
