GARDAÍ last night said they are not treating as suspicious the discovery of skeletal remains in Co Wexford.

The remains were found by a person out walking their dog near Ballyandrew on Monday.

A garda spokesman last night said a post mortem had been carried out and it had been established that "the body is that of a female in her 50s and has been there for approximately 12 months".

"Further toxicology tests results are awaited but there is nothing at this stage to indicate any suspicious circumstances," he said.

"Investigations, including DNA tests are ongoing to confirm the identity of the body."
