MOURNERS at the funeral of Jasmine McMonagle have heard that she was a good mother who was devoted to her family.

The 28-year-old, who was found dead at her home in Killygordon, Co Donegal early on Friday morning, was buried yesterday following Requiem Mass at St Mary’s Church in her native Castlefin.

Her former partner Richard Burke (27) has been charged with her murder.

Ms McMonagle's two daughters, aged one and seven, were in the house at the time her body was found.

Fr Oliver Crilly told mourners that her mother Jacqueline had summed up her up perfectly when she described her as a “good mum”.

“She had a very special relationship with her daughters; she loved to give. She spoiled her wee brother Christopher when he was young – even now when he was 22 years old."

Fr Crilly said Ms McMonagle did not just follow fashion but liked to be different and to “be herself”.

“She had done some modelling and always presented herself with style even when coming to visit her mother."

The priest said her mother, brother and sister Jenna as well as her two daughters had been greatly helped by the support shown by the local community.

“Bereavement associated with cruel trauma is the hardest of all,” he said.

Mourners were told Ms McMonagle had a particular attachment to her late grandmother and following her death, the then 17-year-old got a tattoo with the words “Gran Rose”.

She also wrote a poem which was read to mourners yesterday.

Following Mass, Ms McMonagle was laid to rest beside her grandmother in the nearby cemetery.
