Westmeath singer Niall Horan listed among richest 'British' celebrities
AS a former member of boyband One Direction and successful solo artist, he ranks among some of Ireland's wealthiest popstars.
But despite hailing from Mullingar in Co Westmeath, Niall Horan has unexpectedly been named among the richest young "British" stars.
Horan has made the top-10 in Heat magazine's annual list of the "30 richest British stars aged 30 and under".
The 25-year-old, who is seventh on the list with an estimated wealth of £46 million, is the only star from Ireland to make the cut.
Now in its eighth year, the ranking is described as delving "into the bank accounts of Britain's youngest, richest stars".
"Each entry has to be an entertainer, aged 30 or under and born in, or chiefly reside in, the UK," a press release said.
When asked why Horan was included, a Bauer Media spokeswoman said the press announcement "should read 'from the UK and NI'".
There was no further explanation given when it was explained that the Republic is not part of the UK.
Adele maintains her spot as the richest young British star on the list with an estimated £147.5m, with Ed Sheeran second (£94m) and Daniel Radcliffe third (£87m).
