A MAN attacked at a house party in Co Monaghan almost two weeks ago has died.

The 41-year-old, who was married with four children, suffered serious head injuries at a house just outside Castleblayney during the early hours of October 7.

The incident happened in the village of Oram and he was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, but he passed away yesterday.

A post mortem examination is due to be carried out by the Republic's state pathologist today.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attack.

Francis Hughes, with an address at Sruith an Luir, Oram, appeared before Cloverhill District Court yesterday. He was remanded to appear in court again next month.
