A MAN was arrested after he "ran from the scene" of a fatal road crash in Co Donegal.

The two-vehicle crash happened at about 7.45pm on Thursday at Dooballagh near Letterkenny.

A 55-year-old man driving a Red Toyota Hilux pick-up truck suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, but died yesterday.

A woman aged 33 who was a passenger in the second vehicle involved, a black Mazda, suffered less serious injuries and is being treated in hospital.

Gardaí said the driver of the Mazda, a 22-year-old man, "ran from the scene" and was subsequently arrested.

He was detained at Letterkenny Garda Station and is scheduled to appear before Sligo District Court today to be charged in relation to the incident.

Gardaí appealed for witnesses or any motorists with dash cam footage to contact them.
