THREE people have been arrested after a burglary in Co Kilkenny.

Gardai responded to an intruder alarm which was activated at a supermarket in Mooncoin, Co Kilkenny at 1.40am on Friday morning.

One woman aged in her 20s and two men, one in his 30s and another in his late teens, were arrested near the scene a short time later.

They are being held at Thomastown and Kilkenny garda stations for questioning.

Gardai have seized the car involved in incident and recovered a sum of cash taken during the burglary.

The arrests were part of ongoing operations targeting criminal groups involved in crime in the south Kilkenny area.
