A HOMELESS man has died on the street in Dublin.

Gardaí said a man in his fifties was found unconscious near a shop front in Suffolk Street at about 4am on Thursday.

It is understood he had been sleeping rough.

A Garda spokeswoman said the man was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to St James's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A postmortem examination will be carried out and the coroner's office has been notified but foul play is not suspected.
