A man has been run over and beaten up by a gang.
Gardai said the incident occurred near the Summerhill area of inner city Dublin just after midnight.
A man aged in his forties was found seriously injured on the road near the Parnell Street-Hill Street junction.
Detectives said witnesses reported that a group of men got out of a green or blue Audi saloon car and beat the man after he had been knocked down.
Gardai are treating the incident as a hit-and-run and assault.
They appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them at Mountjoy station.
The injured man was treated in the nearby Mater Hospital.
