A SCOTTISH couple has been rescued from a Co Donegal mountain after being located by a search dog.

The pair were stranded on separate ledges 30 feet apart in a deep ravine on Muckish Mountain.

They had been walking when they became disorientated in the mist yesterday afternoon.

Cody is from the Search and Rescue Dog Association Ireland North ( SARDA IN) and worked alongside the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT).

The couple contacted Gardai shortly before 6pm and Garret Wilson, team leader of the DMRT and SARDA IN dog handler, was able to determine where they were by speaking to them on the phone.

Cody found the pair and barked to alert Mr Wilson and the Scottish walkers were rescued without injury.
