A POLISH man found dead in a disused mill in Co Donegal may have frozen to death.

The body of the man, named locally as Mariusz Ejdys, was found in the mill on Mill Brae in Buncrana on Thursday evening.

Mr Ejdys was in his thirties and had lived in the town for several years.

Temperatures in Co Donegal have fallen to below zero for the last few nights and freezing fog has also been reported.

There were fears Mr Ejdys may have fallen asleep in the mill.

His body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post mortem examination was due to be carried out.

A Garda spokesman confirmed they are investigating the death.

"Gardaí are investigating the sudden death of a man in his thirties in Mill Brae, Buncrana, Co Donegal, on November 24, 2016, at approximately 8.30pm," he said.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious at this time."

Donegal councillor, Sinn Féin's Jack Murray extended his sympathies to Mr Ejdys's family.

"Shocked by the tragic death of a man in Buncrana last night," he wrote on Facebook.

"Thoughts with his family, friends and loved ones."
