A MOTHER-OF-THREE and a woman in her late teens have died in a car crash in Co Donegal.
The crash happened at around 4.30pm on Wednesday on the Glenfin Road, not far from Jackson's Hotel on the outskirts of Ballybofey.
Three people were travelling in the blue Citroen C3 when it left the road on a sweeping bend on the R252. The car crashed into a pole and came to a stop in a parking area for trucks.
A 19-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 38-year-old woman, a mother of three boys, was brought to Letterkenny University Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
A man was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Both women lived in the area but neither was originally from Ballybofey.
The tragic deaths came on the same day as 'European Day Without A Road Death', an EU-wide initiative aimed at reducing fatalities on our roads.
The fatal crash was the latest to happen in Co Donegal. Earlier this year, six people, including a 34-year-old west Belfast man, died on the county's roads in just over a week.
